Are you your families hippie? Recently it seems that I have heard this term used more often than not when people who choose to live a healthy lifestyle around. If thats what others have to associate being healthy with in their minds then fine but maybe we should remind ourselves what the actual definition is of the term 'hippie'.
When you type the term 'hippie' into good old Google you will see: "(especially in the 1960s) a person of unconventional appearance, typically having long hair and wearing beads, associated with a subculture involving a rejection of conventional values and the taking of hallucinogenic drugs."
Hmm..I am sorry but where in that definition do we see the mention of someone who chooses to live healthy? What I see is someone who chooses to push the norm and does drugs...
Yes the way one may choose to live a healthy lifestyle may be seen as a 'rejection of conventional values' but should it be? And in case anyone is wondering I am the polar opposite of one who chooses 'hallucinogenic drugs' in fact I don't even choose IBuprofen. So why am I seen as the family hippie? I guess this blog will let you form your own opinion if you should choose to put your own label one me. More to come. Until next time.
